Outdoor Capture (Beta version)

Outdoor Capture (Beta version) is available as part of the Beamo Plan(s) Essential, Pro, Enterprise.

Introduction 

Beamo now supports capturing outdoor environments referencing the GPS location information. The surveys are set up in the Beamo Portal and are mapped using the information of Google Maps. 

Note: To capture with Ourdoor Capture Mode, the smratphone requires SIM card.

Tips: Outdoor is recommended for covering long distances, e.g. 1 km and above.

 

Step 1. Creating the Outdoor Plan in the Site Management

  1. From the side panel of the home screen, select the site that you want to create (add) plans. 
  2. Click the [v]-arrow right of the [ +Add Plan] on the top right of the screen.
  3. Select Outdoor and create a plan. The outdoor plan is indicated with the [Mountain] icon.

Note: The map will be centered on the location of your site's coordinates and later on the first point of your survey. One site can have both indoor and outdoor types of plans.

Step 2. Capturing with Outdoor Mode

  1. Select the site.
  2. Select the plan.  The outdoor plan is indicated with the [Mountain] icon.
  3. Select [Capture] from the task.
  4. Input the name of the survey and tap [Save].
  5. Set the tripod height by selecting the [Preset] or [Custom]

    Note: Tripod Height = Height of the 360° camera lens from the floor.

    For preset mode
    , input the value from the preset (level 1, 2, or 3) on the side of the Tripod* (included in the Beamo Starter Kit).  

    Note: The value will be reflected on the Beamo Portal side as well.

    For custom mode, input the exact value from the floor up to the 360 camera lens.
  6. Tap [ Next ] to continue to the next step.
  7. Turn on the 360° camera and Wi-Fi.
  8. Go to the Wi-Fi setting of the smartphone, and connect the smartphone with the 360° camera.
    Ricoh Theta network name: “THETAYJ00000000.OS”.

  9. Tap [Done] and continue to the next step.

  10. Adjust the orientation of the smartphone to align the two camera views.

  11. Tap [OK] to finish the alignment.  

  12. Start capturing by tapping the capture button. (For the capture button, see here.) You can also capture with auto mode or using the BLE remote controller.
    Note: App will display the Google Map based on your location.  Points will be mapped on the Google Map in the background.

  13. Tap [Done] when you finish capturing.

  14. Tap [Import] to import 360° images from the 360 camera. (See importing and uploading)

  15. Tap [OK] when the import is completed importing.

  16. Connect Wi-Fi back to the internet. (See importing and uploading)

  17. Tap [Upload] to upload 360° images to the Beamo Portal.

  18. Tab [OK] when the upload is completed.

Tip: For Outdoor Capture mode, we recommend walking and a distance of 5 -10 meters between points to achieve the best results.
